A simple eye test to help determine if an eye exam is necessary, plus how antioxidants may relate to cataracts and age-related macular degeneration.

When Should You Schedule an Eye Exam?

A simple self-check can help you decide whether it's time to book a comprehensive eye exam. If you notice persistent blurred vision, frequent headaches after reading or screen use, difficulty seeing at night, flashes or floaters, or if it has been more than a year since your last exam, call our office. Children should have their first comprehensive exam at 1 year old, then continue on an annual schedule.

Antioxidants and Age-Related Eye Disease

Research has explored the role of antioxidants in age-related eye diseases, including cataracts and age-related macular degeneration (AMD). While diet and nutrition are part of overall wellness, they do not replace regular dilated or widefield retinal exams for detecting these conditions early.

During your visit at Clear Sight Hawaii, we evaluate the lens and retina for signs of cataracts and macular changes — often using Optos imaging to view a wide area of the retina in a single capture.

Take the Next Step

If you or a family member has not had a recent eye health evaluation, schedule an appointment at our Pearl City Walmart location. Early detection remains the best strategy for preserving lifelong vision.
