What to Expect at Your Contact Lens Evaluation
A contact lens evaluation is a separate appointment from a routine eye exam. During your evaluation, we will measure the curvature of your cornea, evaluate your tear film and eye surface health, trial lenses on your eyes to assess fit and vision, and provide instructions on proper care, insertion, and removal.
Do I Have Astigmatism? Can I Still Wear Contacts?
Yes — in most cases. There are excellent toric contact lenses specifically designed for astigmatism, available in daily and monthly options. We will determine the best lens type for your specific prescription.
Contact Lenses for Children
Every child is different, and readiness for contact lenses depends on the individual child's maturity and motivation rather than a specific age. We will discuss whether contacts are a good fit for your child during their exam.
Insurance & Fees
Many vision insurance plans include an allowance for contact lens evaluations and contact lenses. We accept VSP, EyeMed, HMSA, Tricare, and many other plans. Please bring your insurance card to your appointment.
